11 January 2024 – Anderillium Colossal Squid Dark


This ink has jumped right up there as a contender for Best of 2024. A sophisticated blue-black with nice shading on the new Tomoe River paper featured in this year’s Hononichi planners.

They live in the Southern Ocean, and their eyes are the largest of any known creature, with an estimated diameter of ELEVEN inches!
One terrific color after another
“The species is confirmed to reach a mass of at least 1,091 lbs, though the largest specimens – known only from beaks found in sperm whale stomachs – may perhaps weigh as much as 1300-1500 pounds, making it the largest known invertebrate.” -Wikipedia

Many sperm whales have scarred backs, believed to be from the hooks of the Colossal Squid, which may make up 77% of the biomass consumed by these wales.
