9 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Chiku-rin

Well, here’s a new one (I thought I somehow missed two in alphabetical order, but it’s just this one). This final Iroshizuku in my collection is bamboo. And it’s terrific. No surprise. Go get yourself a Pilot fountain pen (any Pilot fountain pen from the Metropolitan to the Kakuno to the somewhat more expensive ones, all the way up to the urushi pens (a Namiki Emperor will currently run you $2,100). Every Pilot pen is outstanding (even the disposable Varsity and the lowly G2), and if you get a fountain pen you can get some terrific Iroshizuku ink to go with it.

“The young bamboo can be easily bent, but the full crown bamboo breaks when it is bent with force. It is easy to bend the young heart towards Gd, but the untrained heart of the old escapes the hold whenever it is so drawn.” -Kamakrishna
