6 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Sepia

The name of the color itself evokes nostalgia. Perhaps sepia can be used in very modern applications, but there’s no way to describe something using the word without implying “old”. It makes me think of Civil War tintypes and old family photo albums. And the ink doesn’t disappoint in those evocations.

A cameo. Quaint and old timey.
“Nostalgia is a beautiful lie dressed up in sepia.” -Atticus (?). “Choosing sepia is all to do with trying to make the image both romantic and idealistic. It’s sort of a soft version of propaganda.” -Martin Pan. “One sunny moment, moving inexorably toward sepia.” -Jonathan Galassi.
