There are roughly 20 Keystone inks in my collection (I think I’m missing one or two that have been sold out), and from the Keystone Formula Inks on the Birmingham website, you can discover recipes for about 144 named inks made with varying amounts of Keystone inks. So Ohio River is a Birmingham color whose recipe calls for 8 parts Hibiscus and 1 part Gunpowder, while Ice Rink calls for 4 parts Electron and 1 part Saltwater Taffy. Combine those together for the ink I called “Ohio Ice Rink” and were off to the races. I like the idea of adding Tesla Coil and simply appending “AC” to the ink name, and another burst of Tesla Coil resulting in the “Volt” variety. As for how far the Inkistry can be pushed before it’s just “mud”, well… that’s what we’re gonna find out this year!

I’m tempted to add either one more shot of Tesla, or lots of Saltwater Taffy, or some Hibiscus tomorrow. Thoughts? Also, if you think there are combinations I should try, let me know. As always, shout of to Birmingham Pen Company for their terrific Keystone Inks!

The recipe, to me, sounded like Volt could be muddy but it definitely isn’t. I like it quite a lot.

I don’t know that I’d keep adding, but I’m not a megasheen/shimmer user
