5 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Blu Mare
Even though I don’t really associate this shade of blue with the sea, I love today’s ink. With a decent amount of shading, and just enough “cornflower blue” tint, I find this one a stunner. Plus I’m always happy to find quotes about the sea.

4 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Verdura
I’m not sure why, but I want this green to be something… different. Brighter or more muted, darker or more subtle, saturated or pale. Our reactions to color are as personal as can be, and there are times when two people looking at the same color will use two very different words (like “yellow” and…

3 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Königsblau
The King’s Blue, or royal blue, is a terrific color ink. A few Mays ago, I wrote with a different color blue ink (in honor of the Blessed Virgin May during her month of May), and was amazed at just how different they can be. Today’s is bright, cheerful, and bold.

2 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Fernambuk
Strange name, but apparently this refers to a state in Brazil whose Portuguese name is Pernambuco. It’s a nice red with a hint of coral. Very pleasing to write with, especially since it seems like it’s the Ohio of Brazil in terms of size and population.

1 June 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Blau Permanent
Here’s yet another blue that exhibits massive amounts of red (!) on fine stationery, and as a reminder the paper you see every day in these blogs is Tomoe River as found in the Hobonichi Weeks and Cousin planners. This is a great splash of color to start the month of June!

May 2024 – Month in Review
Pilot Iroshizuku, Private Reserve, and Rohrer & Klingner… how can I possibly rank these?! Here’s my feeble attempt: 31. Pilot Iroshizuku Chiku-rin. 30. Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün. 29. Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-guri. 28. Private Reserve Permanent Invincible Blue. 27. Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo. 26. Private Reserve Arabian Rose. 25. Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-ro. 24. Private Reserve Ebony Purple.…

31 May 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Leipziger Schwarz
To me this is a greenish black, but it’s definitely one of these “office appropriate” fountain pen inks. Mid-saturation and a mid- kind of feeling to the hue itself, which produces a “soft black” look.

30 May 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Cassia
Today we have a stunner!! Just such a great, solid, bold, smooth, wet ink!

29 May 2024 – Rohrer & Klingner Alt Goldgrün
Green-gold isn’t my favorite color, so I’m not terribly objective on this one, but for a color family I don’t care for, it’s certainly a well-behaved, nicely delicate-looking ink. I guess it just reminds me of macrame and old afghans knit by grandmothers. And that’s not a bad thing, I just don’t necessarily look for…

28 May 2024 – Rohrer and Klingner Alt Bordeaux
Moving on to a new company today and for the next thirteen days: Rohrer and Klingner. They’ve been making ink in Leipzig since 1892, so presumably they know a thing or two. They make ink for all sorts of purposes (and you should always make sure you ink is suitable for your pen, because not…
