7 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo
This is an ink representing “crimson glory vine” which, if it’s anywhere near as pretty as this ink, one should go out in search of on a walk. It’s not possible to overstate how well-behaved and beautiful these Iroshizuku inks are.

6 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-guri
The name of this ink implies something about cherries. I gotta be honest: I don’t see it. There is a hint of a dark cherry red, but it is almost entirely subsumed beneath a very pretty greyish brown. Do t get me wrong: it’s a terrific ink and a terrific color. I just don’t get…

5 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Tsutsuji

As if it couldn’t get better, today’s Iroshizuku is a vibrant, bright, cheerful, well-saturated pink! Maybe it’s not an everyday ink, but it has its place (Gaudete and Laetare Sundays come to mind… maybe Springtime, birthdays…). Enjoy!

4 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo

The name means “moonlight”, but if you ask me to describe it, I’d go with “Shin-kai on steroids”. On a basic level, this is a basic blue. But it just has so much going on that it hard to boil it down to a one-word description of its color. So, it’s a shading sensation!!!

3 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi

Take-sumi, or “bamboo charcoal” is another home run. I know some people call this neutral black, but I see brown (or maybe black-brown, but it’s brown). Browns are one of my favorites, and this rich, saturated, bold, handsome color doesn’t disappoint. (Have you ordered your 24 Iroshizuku yet?)

2 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-ro

“Pine Tree Dew” is apparently a rough translation of “syo-ro”, and as the quote below affirms, it’s tough to get closer to perfect combination of words to describe the effect of an ink color. Yet another terrific entry in the Iroshizuku line. (They’re kind of like Pokémon: gotta catch them all!)

1 May 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku

Here’s a highly saturated emerald green for your enjoyment. There is one discussion bout whether inks that aren’t black or blue can be used in business settings. For. Green, this come very very close to an ink I think might fit the bill. Plus, it’s awesome!

April 2024 – Month in Review

It would be difficult to rank them all, but here’s a top ten: 10. Noodler’s Ottoman Rose 9. Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-same 8. Pelikan Turqouise 7. Pelikan Dark Green 6. Noodler’s Kiowa Pecan 5. Noodler’s Liberty’s Elysium 4. Noodler’s Tiananmen Red 3. Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-peki 2. Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-kai 1. Noodler’s Navajo Turquoise. and I can’t…

30 April 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-kai

This was my original “daily ink” when my journey into fountain pens, ink, and stationery began. It is a lovely, subtle, linen blue. It’s not (surprisingly) the most saturated blue, but it has just the right amount of saturation for the inspiring linen shade it share with writers and readers.

29 April 2024 – Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu

You won’t find many criticisms of Iroshizuku ink. If there are any, it’s that there are “only” twenty-four inks in this amazing line. But that’s hardly a criticism, as today’s incredible purple shows. List all the things you want in a solid purple ink, and then I dare you to tell me this ink doesn’t…
