1 March 2024 – LAMY Blackberry

This is the ink that started the buzz. Along with tomorrow’s ink (Cliff), these two inks match the two 2024 Special Edition Safaris. But already there was a rumor going around about a resurfacing of the classic (think “more prized than Petrol”) Dark Lilac ink. At this point, nobody knew what would happen… but some…

29 February 2024 – LAMY T53 Azurite

Another “higher end” ink from LAMY, this ink doesn’t disappoint. And once again, I learned about mineralogy.

28 February 2024 – LAMY Petrol

We come today to probably the most expensive, most collectible, more rare ink I own. The Special Edition Safari Petrol released by LAMY in 2017 had a matching ink,and today both the ink and the pen are quite rare and therefore pricy. But this is an amazingly terrific ink, and the name is perfect! Enjoy!

27 February 2024 – LAMY Mango

I really want this color to be more vivid, because I love the Special Edition Safari it is supposed to match. It for me, this ink falls short due to weak, uninteresting color. (Honorable mention for slightly pleasant shading)

26 February 2024 – LAMY Crystal Rhodonite

LAMH inks are economical, relatively speaking, and the “pricier” crystal line are still very affordable. And this Rhodonite is an absolute stunner. I’m surprised how many inks are named for gems and elements, so I learned a little about Rhodonite today (always thrilled to learn new things).

25 February 2024 – LAMY Bronze

Basically the ONLY thing I don’t like about LAMY ink bottles is that nowhere does the name of the ink appear in writing. The color appears on the box, and the bottle lid suggests the color, but when you have quite a bit of ink, you end up with lots of colors that are pretty…

25 February 2024 – LAMY Preview

LAMY inks are up next! These generous bottles have both standard color lines and special edition inks that often match the Special Edition Safari pens I collect. Luis, there’s an ENORMOUS surprise coming from the world of LAMY!

23 February 2024 – Kaweco Ruby Red

Well, this is simply a terrific color! As I’ve said before, inks from manufacturers who also produce fountain pens are nearly always well-behaved, which sometimes make these lines a little dull. But this color is saturated and brilliantly deep.

22 February 2024 – Kaweco Paradise Blue

Turquoise today. There are some in this hobby who are passionate about turquoise, and that’s awesome (there’s something for everybody). I’m not one of them. It’s not that I don’t like turquoise; I just think most turquoise inks are fairly similar. Then again, non FP users and inkaholics might say every brown, every black, every…

21 February 2024 – Kaweco Midnight Blue

Dark blue ink is truly a pleasure. This ink shades from a medium hue to a rich dark blue, and gives bold yet gentle feel both writing and reading.
