20 February 2024 – Kaweco Chocolate Brown

Just a half dozen or so inks from Kaweco (Kuh-VAY-coe) beginning with this mid range brown. Not too intense, but also not too faint.

19 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Terre d’Ombre

Brown may be one of my favorite “non-basic” ink colors. Blue, black, red… are there other standard inks in your mind? This brown is, just like the rest of these Jacques Herbin inks, simply magnificent.

18 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Rouge Grenat

A deep, beautiful garnet red, which makes sense since that’s the name of the ink! Just a fabulous line from J Herbin.
-
17 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Gris de Houle

Grey… but with shading properties that give a range of greys from light and gentle to dark and purposeful. A very nice color.
-
16 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Emeraude de Chivor

A beloved color for many fountain pen users, with its sparkle and sheen and attractive emerald color. It’s loud; it makes a statement; it’s fun!
-
15 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Bleu de Minuet

I’m still placing yesterday’s Bleu Austral a bit higher, but both of these blues are stunning and rich and strong.
-
14 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Bleu Austral

This one rates higher for me than yesterday’s, but both are terrific.

Conklin Ink Rankings
Conklin has 11 inks, as far as I can tell, and I have seven of them. (Seems silly not to just get the other four, doesn’t it?). Another difficult ranking, because there isn’t one I disliked, it here’s my best shot at ranking: 7. Denim Blue 6. Antique Turquoise 5. Classic Black 4. Dark Rust…

13 February 2024 – Jacques Herbin Ambre de Baltique

A week of high end ink is coming your way from Jacques Herbin. Today we start with a gorgeous amber, but I’d expect all seven to be super rich and beautiful.

12 February 2024 – Dominant Industry Arizona Sky Crimson

The second of the Pen Chalet “Decade in the Desert” anniversary inks. Like I said yesterday, they go well together to evoke the image.
