14 January 2024 – Anderillium Flying Squid Blue

Yes they do fly. Mariners have found squid on deck in the morning for centuries, and wondered how they got there. These squid can glide for up to 100 feet. This ink has a terrific sheen!

13 January 2024 – Anderillium Flapjack Octopus Orange

Yep, it’s a real animal! It’s only about 7-8 cm in size. They stay near the sea floor at depths of 430-7,710 feet where it’s 34-39F. Also, Pearl in Finding Nemo is a Flapjack Octopus.

12 January 2024 – Anderillium Cuttlefish Brown

Wow, Anderillium just keeps pouring on (yeah, I did that) the phenomenal ink colors! Today’s brown has a greenish-black hint to it.

11 January 2024 – Anderillium Colossal Squid Dark

This ink has jumped right up there as a contender for Best of 2024. A sophisticated blue-black with nice shading on the new Tomoe River paper featured in this year’s Hononichi planners. Many sperm whales have scarred backs, believed to be from the hooks of the Colossal Squid, which may make up 77% of the…

10 January 2024 – Anderillium Bobtail Squid Green

A slightly dryer ink, but another stunning color!
-
9 January 2024 – Anderillium Blue-ringed Octopus

Today we begin the eight-ink Cephalopod series with a stunner! Both the ink and the little guy (one will wow you, the other Will wow you and could kill you).

8 January 2024 – Anderillium Shoebill Stork Grey

This is absolutely one of my GRAIL BIRDS. Pen folks have grail pens, but this would be an absolute dream to be in the presence of one of these ancient, strange, docile, deadly birds. Yet another terrific ink from the Avian series by Anderillium! This is the final Avian ink, so here they are from…

7 January 2024 – Anderillium Roseate Spoonbill Pink

One of the two species of birds you CAN spot in the US the is pink because of its diet, the Roseate Spoonbill is easier to spot than the American Flamingo (captive flamingos with clipped wings don’t count). Speaking of Flamingos, Ohio recorded its first ever American Flamingo, as did other Midwest states, last fall…

6 January 2024 – Anderillium Purple Gallinule Purple

Terrific color, and a terrific bird! Go find yourself one in the wild to observe, and see if you don’t think the same as JJ (see quote below).

5 January 2024 – Anderillium Pompadour Cotinga Burgundy
I’m faulting the two misbehaving pens (as opposed to my still-atrocious handwriting – forgive me Michael Sull) for the way this looks, because the ink seems well-behaved enough. Speaking of Michael Sull, he’s one of only a handful of living Master Penman, and I have all of his books but simply haven’t put in the…
