Ladybug Fuse 1 part Emerald Fusion 5 parts Ladybug Well, this looks like a lovely brown to me, but it’s still not red. We’ve gone from 1:1 to 5:1 with these two. What might happen with 10:1?

Ladybug Fusion 1 part Emerald Fusion 1 part Ladybug Another lesson in just how strong (or delicate) some of these inks are. Today’s lab results aren’t much different from straight up Emerald Fusion! We’ll see what happens in the days ahead as we increase the Ladybug.

    Inkistry 2025 – Pause

Just a quick pause today due to my schedule. I’ll catch up with today’s and tomorrow’s ink tomorrow with a double post. In the meantime, head on over to Birmingham Pen Company’s website. Look around and discover the great stuff they’re up to! You can find them at birminghampens.com 🙂 Here’s a throwback to a…

Lady Sterling Silver 1 part Ladybug 1 part Sterling Silver Our fifth lady, and a close relative of yesterday’s debut of Lady Amaryllis Silver (aka the First Lady Silver). Lady Sterling Silver reminds us that sometimes descendants have more to offer than the elders, even if they might think otherwise. Lady Sterling Silver, formally known…

Lady Amaryllis Sterling 1 part Amaryllis 5 parts Ladybug 1 part Sterling These inks simply combine really, really well. We have our fourth Lady of the year (I don’t think we can count Ladybug, but Lady Amaryllis, Lady Taffy, Lady Teatime, and Lady Amaryllis Sterling definitely count. Also, don’t confuse Lady Amaryllis with Lady Amaryllis…

Fire Hydrant “AC on Low” 15 parts Fire Hydrant 1 part Tesla Coil “Turn down the AC!” Ok, ok, ok. This 15:1 ratio finally starts to allow FH to appear, and produces this intriguing burgundy black concoction. At least we’re back in the “some sort of red for February” range.

Fire Hydrant “AC” 5 parts Fire Hydrant 1 part Tesla Coil I was really excited about this idea! I thought the beautiful red of FH would get a magical blast with TC. Instead, these two inks obliterated one another, leaving what I suppose is a purple black on very close inspection. Fascinating. Disappointing, but fascinating.

Teaberry Taffy 1 part Salt Water Taffy 1 part Teaberry Ice Cream Our final red 1:1 lab experiment has resulted in my absolute favorite pink of the month! There’s something vibrant and perfect about this combo! The question that remains is: how do we make twelve more varieties of red during the remainder of February?

Lady Teatime 1 part Ladybug 1 part Teaberry Ice Cream This is a beautifully delicate ink as Ladybug makes its final appearance in the “Red 1:1” portion of our month. For a soft-looking ink, it has just enough saturation to suit my tastes and for legibility.

Lady Taffy 1 part Ladybug 1 part Salt Water Taffy It’s our Second Lady of the month. Earlier we met Lady Amaryllis, and today we meet Lady Taffy. This is a compelling color, with shading of both darker and lighter pinks. Will Ladybug do even better dancing either Teaberry Ice Cream tomorrow?
